January 20 Fun in the SunSo... it’s been a little while since I’ve sat down and updated my blog. Perhaps that means that I don’t have a very exciting life..... or things are so crazy that I don’t have time to write.
Well things have been busy.... but really not all that exciting. Christmas and New Years went well. We had a house for of people for both days with great food, company and drinks. Greg even made it on TV to talk about our New Years Eve party to talk about having a safe party for our guests and being responsible with alcohol. It was Greg’s 2 minutes of fame.
Since the holidays we have been trying to recover and catch up on rest. Does one ever catch up on rest? Well, I think that we have some wishful thinking as we plan to do a little resting in on the sunny beaches of the Bahamas!!!! I can hardly wait! Warm sun! White sand! And warm relaxing waters! When I close my eyes I can almost feel myself there.... ahhhh...... it will be great! Nothing is better in taking a swim in salt water.
This was a last minute vacation decision. We saw it in the paper and had to take up the offer. Besides, the last time we got a holiday from work was our cruise last year. It’s about time and we are ready for the get away. That means the summer will be spent at home in the yard... just where I like to be. And a few trips out to the lake during the summer will be just fine with me. Perhaps Greg and I should plan a camping trip this summer. The Whiteshell is one of the better places to go, but I think I will make those plans after the snow has melted. So, less than a month from now I’ll be sipping cool drinks while soaking in the warm sun! December 01 Tiny FeetsI thought that this was really cute; I took the picture yesterday on one of the month’s coldest days. I really don’t know what kind of footprints they are but I can imagine that it probably belongs to some little squirrel or mouse. I just think that it looks so cute because I can imagine the little rodent, what ever it may be, and running back and forth to get the little grains and seeds that were leftover from the bird feeder. All those little bits of food are around the base of the tree aren’t going to waste. Obviously those poor little critters are hungry or there wouldn’t be those little tiny foot trails. But what makes me wonder is... do they have a little house built under the little cedar bush? What would really happen if I stuck my camera in there? What little critter would I find? I think it’s the little bit of mystery that interreges me of these footprints. November 28 Only 27 DaysThe count down has begun. There are only 27 more days until Christmas, for some that’s only 2 pay days away, how ready are you?? I have to admit, for the very first time in years..... in fact I would have to say in my lifetime I am 98% ready for Christmas. I have two things left to purchase a ham (or turkey) for dinner and Greg’s gift. I know what I want to get him but I’m having a problem getting it. I will have to hunt a little harder and I hope with all my fingers and toes crossed that I will be able to find that one thing soon. But the house is almost ready, the tree has been up for some time now as Gregory was soooo excited to get things set up and lit up! We bought a new Christmas tree this year as I had a really old Charlie Brown tree... no joke... if you actually saw it you would think it came from the cartoons. It was the most ugly artificial tree that money could buy. Why did I own it... well I was 19 years old.....broke and Zellers had a sale. Does that say enough for you?? So the tree is decorated, so far so good with the cats staying away from it. Only one ornament has been knocked off to date.... but I have see the tree sway a few times now. I suppose that the cats are getting a little board being in the house so they like to chase each other around and around and around. But when eight legs are running at 25 mph on hard wood floor with it’s kind of hard to get a good grip on the shinny floors with those sharp claws to do a quick 180-degree turn. So that 180 usually turn into a 90-dgree turn with a circle around the tree, up over the sofa arm, quick across the cushions, a corner of the coffee table and a leap back down the hall way for the real quick get away. Left in the flying cat hair is the twirling and tinkling of Christmas ornaments on the tree. The presents are mostly wrapped, only a few more left to go but they should be done very soon. If I don’t Gregory darling could get a little snoopy and start searching through bags. Fortunately he won’t find his gift, as stated before I don’t have it, but he runs the risk of finding out the name of the family member I have for Christmas this year. We do a sort of ‘Secret Santa’ thing in my family. At Thanksgiving we draw names and we don’t tell who we have until we exchange gifts. And we can’t draw our spouse, so it makes it a little fun and it keeps a little bit of surprise and suspense in Christmas. So I gotta get that all wrapped.
November 19 Personality TestI was given this link to do a personality test..... very interesting... I think that it was fairly correct in evaluating my real personality. Give it a try and see what kind of personality traits you have.
November 14 Pierogie TimeThis past weekend as a pierogie making weekend! The Hasse clan had their assembly line working hard on a Sunday morning. It’s been a year since the family had been together to make the wonderful tasty treat. Our freezers were empty and our tummies were craving therefore we had a day of hard work a head of us.
We start with a giant bowl of mashed potatoes with melted cheese, onions and butter... it’s cooled and we roll it into potatoes balls.....mmmm.... it’s so tasty just like this, Jillian would agree as she would sneak a few potato balls in her mouth.
Then comes the dough, rolling it thin with a pasta machine, s ee how everyone is working so hard.... rolling... rolling and more rolling.....
Then there is the cutting... placing the potato balls into the dough and cutting it into those recognizable half moon shapes.
Even the kids try to help.
Then comes the best part... the perogies are boiled and smothered in gobbs of butter...
There is nothing better than the hot buttery perogies... right Hillary??
Hopefully we will have enough pierogies left over for Christmas... I better hide them from Greg! And in all of this... Troy, where were you hiding?
October 06 ThanksgivingI completely admit I have been very delinquent in keeping this blog up to date. I know that I have a couple of devote and faithful readers out there, you know who you are!
Thanksgiving weekend has arrived. There is a lot to do this weekend to make everyone else a little more thankful, a little bit more fatter and to increase the chances of liver cirrhosis while thinking of the upcoming Christmas season.
Since I don't want to get too far a head of myself with all the Christmas chatter (even though it's less than 3 months away) I'm going to focus on the beautiful fall we've had in Winnipeg this year. It's a fall season unlike any I've ever remembered. It's been somewhat of a storybook fall. The leaves have changed colour, the air has been warm, and walking in the crunching leaves has been fun. Other years it's been a harsh frost with every leaf hitting the ground at the same time with no colour change. So to enjoy what I've seen this year I was out walking with the camera and here are a few photos I've been able to capture.
What Fall looks like on Lindsay Street. I found this sour Cherry tree just across the road from my house... it's growing in a little ditch... the colour were so vivid and rich. I couldn't have captured and better photo for the month of October. This is my Dad's cat Jag. Look at those eyes! September 21 Dancing the Night AwayDance Dance Dance... that’s what we did on Wednesday night. Greg signed us up for some dance lessons at our local community club. I was all shocked when he did it, and I’m surprised he agreed to it. But now I have to write about it. I’ll probably get burned at the steak for the things that I say about it because it was so darn funny.
To start, Greg signed us up for Latin dancing lessons. We are learning Salsa, Merengue and Cumbian dances. I have never taken a dance lesson in all my life and I have always wanted to do something like that. Now, thanks to Greg’s generosity I’m doing it.
I must say, Greg is an awesome sport for taking part in this because he has a huge handicap when it comes to music, beat, rhythm and tone. Essentially he can’t feel the music or duplicate it in any way, shape or form. I feel sorry for him because he tries so hard and yet he just can’t get it. And I admit he tries hard, if I want to dance he will dance with me... I even caught him moving to a beat one time while he was cleaning up the bedroom. It was the cutest and funniest thing I ever saw, I also scared the crap out of him because he didn’t know I was watching.
So here we are in a room, a bunch of couples learning to Salsa.... left foot, right foot, left foot.... 1,2,3, pause, 5,6,7...quick, quick, slow, quick, quick, slow... ya not so hard when doing it by yourself. But adding in that partner... jeepers! I thought after the first ½ hour that was going to be it, Greg is going to quit! Me...I admit I was bad... . I can’t stop giggling because he looked like the squeamish girl trying to jump away from that creepy crawly spider! I tried to be kind and not laugh... but I couldn’t help it. But as the evening went on he got much better. As they say, practice make perfect.
The last ½ hour of the night we did some Merengue dance. It’s easy.... but for the guys... well it definitely looks ridiculous because there is a lot of hip swinging.. and how many guys out there like to make their hips go pop, pop, pop when they dance? Not too many. Well when Greg started this... that was it, I cracked.... he looked cute... and yet sooo funny.. I’m still laughing about it. I couldn’t help myself but giggle.. (this is why I will probably be burned at the steak, I shouldn’t laugh at him). But he put in sooo much effort and we really want to make this work.
I think that we have 6 or 8 weeks of dance classes left.... I can't wait to see what next week brings us. It's either going to be more giggles or graceful moves that will impress the both of us. Only time will tell. Maybe Greg has been secretly practicing and will have some fancy moves....... A girl can dream, right?
September 11 summer is overIt's finally all done, and I mean all! Summer is over, the busy weekend of rushing around from here to there to celebrate a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday, moving, our wedding,,,, everything, it's finally all done. And now I'm pooped. It felt like we never had a single second to ourselves all summer long, starting in about mid June. And believe it or not, I never really got to do anything that I wanted to do, like spend more time at the beach, go camping or even enjoy the back yard. I suppose that is what I will have to be doing next summer. I had mentioned this to the group at work one day and they all looked at me with google eyes and said "What do you mean you didn't DO anything all summer?!?!?!" I really think they thought I was nuts!
But I'm happy to be in our new house, it feels like home and I hope the winter goes well. I need some down time to relax and catch up on all that missed sleep.
August 19 It's All DoneIt's hard to beleive that within two weeks we have moved to a new house and have gotten married. The time blew by so fast it was hard believe! Before we even knew it, it was moving day. All of our belonging and our cats moved over to the new house.
It was wonderful, all of our family pitched in and helped carry a box, and the rest was left for the movers. My parents spent the weekend with us to help unpack and get settled that much faster as we had a wedding quickly approaching. The kitties are getting used to the house, and the short drive to work if delightful! I couldn't have picked a better location.
Now the wedding! Greg and I exchanged vows on August 18th with our family and friends in the surrounding us. It was little bit of an emotional experience, but a happy one none the less.
We ran around, visited, ate and enjoyed the slush... well I think Greg enjoyed the slush a little too much!
We had fun with the wedding, we came in comfy casual clothes and decorated the yard to have a Mexican flavor and the food to match! It was a party unlike anything I had been to before and I'm sure that not too many have experienced such a delight.
This one I think had the most fun out of all of us! We had all the Latin music for her to dance to.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME TO CELEBRATE, HELP OUT BEFORE AND AFTER THE WEDDING. YOU MADE OUR DAY THAT MUCH MORE SPECIAL! July 24 An Open LetterMEMO

From: Two Ticked Off Owners

Regarding: TWO Stolen Bikes
Just in case you didn't notice, but two bikes are now in your possession, one red, and one silver and red. I have reason to believe that these do not belong to you. You did not purchase them, they were not given as gifts, nor were they sold to you or exchanged for anything. Therefore I believe that you STOLE THEM.
In case you are unfamiliar with the crime in which you have committed the following definition may help you to understand:
The word comes from the noun STEAL meaning:
To take (the property of another or others) without permission or right, esp. secretly or by force:
In your case I believe that you performed the verb meaning:
To commit or practice theft.
So, you see, you have committed a crime and should be punished for your actions. Unfortunately I do not know who you are, but I do believe punishment will come your way sooner or later. Perhaps not in the judicial way such as "a good talking to from the boys in blue", fines, arrests, or jail, but rather in a more karma type way. Perhaps someone may come by and steal those wheels from you just as you had to us, or some unfortunate type accident that commonly occurs while riding a bike. By the way, road rash takes a while to heal, especially when the gravel and rocks start to fester and spew puss from your wounds.
I am also very disappointed in the fact that your parent(s) did not teach you any morals in life such as taking what isn't yours is wrong. I truly hope that your children don't become such a disappointment to the community as you have, perhaps if they do it just may be karma.

June 11 Bored SundayJune 03 NO JOKEJune 02 Mr. SunDear Mr. Sun
Where have been hiding for the last 3 weeks? Did we do something to tick you off? Everyday I get up hoping to see your bright and shinny glow and you are never there, until yesterday. You came back! I was so happy to see you, feel your warmth and I can't begin to count the number of smiles I saw on people's faces because of you! We missed you!
Do you know who missed you even more? It was all those lovely flowers that I put into my flowerbeds this week. I saw them twisting their head around looking for you, but you were never there. In fact your cousin, raindrops, beat some of those lovely flowers to the ground. He doesn't always have to be so rough; he can sometimes be gentle and soft. Anyway, my plants were bowing to your gracious heat yesterday afternoon.
And today I'm happy once again to wake up and see your glowing face, feeling your warmth. And just for that I'm going to play outside with all my friends and enjoy what you give us! Just tell your cousin Rain to go on a vacation for a couple of weeks.
Once again, it's soooo nice to see you again!
Oh Mister Sun, Sun, May 24 Girls DayWell I did it. It's been something I have been thinking about for some time and just never really wanted to face the facts. After 20 years or so it was about time to take the bull by the horns and do the proper thing. Today, after work, I stopped in at a reputable specialty lingerie shop and made a purchase. Yup, I walked on in there and said "I want to have a bra fitting and buy a proper bra". Yup, it's not easy to tell some strange woman that. And off we went to the dressing room, from there I had no idea what to expect.
Truthfully, it's odd to be standing in a dressing room with a strange woman who asks you to remove your shirt so she can have a look and measure. It kind of makes you nervous when you pull of your shirt and you are standing in front of a mirror with an ill fitted bra. The elastic is broken, strings hanging and every rational thought is that it should be garbage, but you can't because it's the bra you think that "fits".
With a few swift motions of the sales lady and a quick dash through the store she returned with what seemed like an ordinary plain bra, no frills, no bows, no fancy colour, just a beige bra. It wasn't until that swift sales lady did up the hook that the bells rang! Holy Dinea! The girls where looking good! It fit like a glove! And believe it or not it was immediately comfortable. That's it, first try I found the one! This sales lady was like some great goddess who held the powers to make the boob look great! That's it, I'm taking it! No questions asked!
As I'm getting dressed in my threads I pick up the bra and examine the tag. OMG!!! I wear what size???? That's completely different than what the Wonder Bra box says I've been wearing! Why such a difference?? Where on earth do these sizes come from? I will never be able to go back to Sears and get the Dollar Days bra again! And speaking of dollar days... well I'm going to have to work some over time to pay for this damn bra! And because I paid....well lets just say 4 times the amount that I would normally pay for a bra, this very expensive piece of material will never see the inside of my washing machine or dryer!
So today I treated my girls and myself. I have to admit that it makes a difference. If you've never taken the plunge to get a proper fit I suggest 2 things. Save up for it before you go (or have some open credit on that Visa card) and don't wait! You would be surprised how it can transform your look! May 15 Rate My LifeI did a rate your life thing.. and well here are my results...
Hmmm.. I'm not so sure that I'm thrilled with this. I have this orange line in the Friends/Family area. Do you think I'm lacking? I know life is busy and friends are spread out all over, but perhaps this should be something I should pay more attention too. I think I gotta sit back and take a look at all of this. May 09 A TV's Journey HomeOnce upon a time ago Chrissy used to have a 27 inch TV. But 5 years ago it suddenly disappeared. Chrissy later learned that this TV traveled around the city from apartment to apartment and finally landed a more permanent and stable home near the downtown area of Winnipeg. One hot day in May 2007, Chrissy was traveling along a busy street in Winnipeg and what did she see…. A Garage Sale! Chrissy likes garage sales. So she parked her car and met with the lovely lady hosting her auction of goods.
As Chrissy looked around at the many good she saw what she had been missing for so many years, her old TV.
And what’s that? Ms. Blythe is not even asking any $$$ for this lovely picture box? What? It’s all for me????? How wonderful!
It was a done deal, Chrissy will take the TV and treat it with great care and take pleasure once again watching her Thursday night shows.
How kind of Ms. Blythe to help me out with it…
But I brought my own help…..
And we carried it out…
And into the car…. Thank you Ms. Blythe for the wonderful gift! Good luck on your sale! Makes lots of money selling all your goods! Have a wonderful trip to the East Coast!
WeekendThe weekend has come and gone so quick! It seems that there just aren’t enough hours in the weekend to get everything done and before you know it the alarm clock is screaming MONDAY MORING! The time just seems to fly by, I don’t recall time passing by that fast as a kid. Maybe it’s because I have more to do now than I did then. I suppose that this is the joy of being a homeowner.
This weekend was a rainy weekend, although it was a much-needed rain as the ground was quite parched, therefore this lead to a weekend of indoor activities including the house cleaning. The kids on the other hand would probably have been much happier playing outside, but with the cats and dogs falling from the sky they were goofy nuts in the house anyway. I spend ½ of the weekend at my Mom’s house in the country as we were preparing for a family gathering on Sunday to celebrate Mitchell’s Confirmation. Up, that little tiny baby that he was at 5lbs was now standing up professing his religious commitments to everyone. He’s come a long way from being a shy little boy to a bigger, slightly shy BIG boy! His Mom and Dad (Shari & Ernie) put on a lovely meal. Ernie had even tried to be so sly as to convince us that he was up all night making shish kabobs while baking and decorating a cake. Ya, right! And I was up all night implementing world peace. Nice try Ernie.
At any rate, it was good weekend. The girls clowned around….
Mitchell stood tall and proud.
