    The House Game

I really need to vent about the housing market of today.  Now I’m not that old, but I have had some experience purchasing a house, therefore I’m not a first time homebuyer, but rather a upgrade home purchaser now.  So many things have changed from 9 years ago up until recently.  I really don’t like the way the market is running and how the real estate board is allowing the market to be run.

Back 9 years ago a house wasn’t so hard to buy in the sense that there were lots of home for sale and not too many buyers. But when an offer was written on a home and given to the vendor the vendor could only look at one offer at time and from there decide to accept, reject or propose a counter offer.  This way both the buyer and the vendor had a chance at buying and selling a home.  But don’t look for that today!

It’s getting kind of frustrating as we have been house hunting since mid November and we haven’t seen too much that is worth our bid. But we have bid on a few, not many, but a few.  With the last house it was a crazy bidding war, the phone was ringing off the hook, realtors asking “How bad do you want the place?  Do you want to bid higher?”  Well last I knew this wasn’t an auction sale, I put in a offer on a house asking the vendor if he would like it.  And good golly, I’m not impressed with what realtors or telling their vendors now about the deposit that goes along with an offer.  Back in 1998 I put down a $1000 deposit with my offer, this is to show good faith in my offer and to also protect the vendor if I decide at the last minute that I’m not taking the place.  Well now realtors are telling their vendors to only look at offers with a HIGH deposit, in the range of $5000 or higher.  I think that is nuts!  It doesn’t really benefit anyone other than the realtor since they hold the check in trust until the entire mortgage goes through.  So has this been the money making scam of real estate companies to make a dollar on the purchaser by holding their money and making interest on it??  Dirty dirty diryt!  That’s what I think.

Last week I spoke to someone who recently purchased a condo in Alberta.  I asked about their deposit with their offer to purchase.  The person told me that their Alberta realtor suggested that 1% of purchase price is sufficient for a deposit with payment.  Hmmm… think about that, doesn’t that seem reasonable??  So I’m looking at a $200 000, shouldn’t my $2000 deposit be enough?  $5000 is more like 2.5% and probably 2.5% is what the real estate company will end up making in interest on my money.  I just don’t think it’s right.  This whole real estate business has just become such a game!  A game that I’m not so sure I want to play!

    Still Hunting

From this weekend you can sure tell that spring is right around the corner.  It was so warm on Saturday with bright sunny skies; it made everyone come out of their winter cocoon.

With that, more houses have finally hit the market and THANK GOODNESS!  As there was nothing left out there to look at.  Who would have thought that finding a house would be such a challenge!   I remember when I bought the house I am in right now in '98 I had oodles to look at and choose.  Now they are far and few between.  But we ran into a gem this week and everyone keep your fingers crossed!  It's finally one we like, that doesn’t really need a lot of work other than our own decorating and paint.  It's a big 1300 sq foot home in the south end of the city, right where we wanted it.  It's sound and has tones of potential.  Our offer goes in Monday night and I'm hoping, hoping and wishing that we get it.

I know that I shouldn't get my hopes up too high because that just sets me up for disappointment and I really hate that.  But I'm still hoping.  I think one of the best features about this place is that it's so close to my work.  I really hate my drive and I've always been spoiled by living so close to where I work.  On a really ambitious day I could walk to work and very easily bike.  It's awesome transportation for Greg to get to work downtown.  It's a very quiet neighborhood and there is everything around us that we would possibly need on Pembina.  I'm going to keep hopeing and wishing... and until I know the final answer I won't sleep!  Then it's going to be high gear to get my place up and ready for the market.  Oh the stress!!!!!

    Still no House

Here we go again, another offer rejected.  And as I look at the bigger picture I know that everything happens for a reason.  Our offer on the house was rejected because the seller refused to let us have a home inspection.  To me this says a few things, either a) There is something wrong with the house that the seller didn't want to disclose, b) The seller felt offended that we would want such a beast perhaps it was an insult to him.  For whatever the reason my be, it just didn't happen for us.  That's the way things go.  So this weekend it's off to see what else has hit the market and perhaps we might be able to come across that one gem in all the junk.  I have to admit, I'm getting tired of all my spare time getting eaten up house hunting, but I know that in the end it's going to pay off.  Perhaps I am more impatient than anything else.  Spring is getting nearer, I can tell with the days getting longer, and I'm wondering how much I'm going to have to do in my current year this year..... and what kind of work I'm going to have to do in my new yard, if we ever find one.  But for me it's not really work work, it's more happy work because I like being outside. But it's the thought of having to focus on two yard that seems a little daunting.

As I'm sure you can tell that house has been on my mind most of the time because that's I seem to write about.  The days have general been like this, get up, got to work, come home and surf the Real Estate News for new house listings.  Exciting eh?  The poor cat has been staring me down as if to say "Um, how about brushing me?"   My poor neglected baby!  I'll have to do some serious cuddles with him this weekend and some serious brushing to get rid of micro mats that have turned into major mats!

Oh, on a sad note, my guppy died but it was due to a big bully in my fish tank!  I liked my guppy, she was so pretty, she was almost this florescent yellow who would swim so happy in the tank!  Her mate, a beautiful red and blue would never leave her alone and I loved watching her flutter around the tank!  But that darn huge Convict Cichlid ate her the day before yester!  I almost cried, and Greg had fun watching her being torn apart in the tank by that mean mean fish!!  And she was pregnant! I wanted to I don't want to those mean fish anymore, any want a cichlid??  I'll give him away for free!  I want a community of nice fish, happy fish, colour fish.  Not ones that eat each other!  I don't feel so guilty for pouring one of those baby cichlids down the drain by accident now.  Oh, by the way, city sewer people, I apologize if there have been any giant fish attacks!  So, I'm going to get rid of that mean fish and get myself a happy tank.  Um,... to the family members that I gave the rest of the baby cichlids to... just be warned, they eat EVERYTHING!  Keep your fingers out of the tank!

    Busy Busy

Well I have been very delinquent in blog and that’s all because I’ve been busy.  Busy running from here to there and back again.  After being on vacation it was a little bit hard on the system to get back into the general routine again.  Rising early to get to work was a bit of a challenge because those early morning also mean early to bed too.  And then after work there was always something to run around and do.  We had to go grocery shopping because my fridge look liked Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. My kitties were crying for more wet food since they have been treated that by the Fairy Cat Godmother while we were gone.

Then we have gone back to house hunting.  Looking at houses is really tiring!  You can look and look and sometimes you see stuff that looks kind of interesting, but more often than not, we have been seeing….well for lack of a better term, crap!

But last night we found a little gem, it breaks my rule of houses but I do like it.  We are going to put in an offer and see what comes of it.

What’s my rule? In case you were wondering it is that I can’t live within walking distance to any known relative.  Well, this house is near my sister’s, I never expected to look for a house in St. James, but it just came up.  Anyway, it would be a very LONG walk, but apparently Hillary has done it a few times with her friend, who lives around the corner of the house.  But my sister has not yet done it, so that probably rules out the chances of her walking over.   We shall know at the end of this week if we have to keep on looking for a new home or if our decision will be made for us.

    12 days of Aventure

So I know my last blog entry really sucked!  It was because I was too darn excited to get my photos up on the net to show everyone where we had been.  So now that I've unpacked and have sorted through my stuff I can explain a little more of the things we had done and seen while away on our trip.

In case some of your weren't aware, Greg and I stepped on a plane for a 12 day vacation to the Caribbean.  On January 24 we flew to Fort Lauderdale Florida where we would be spending the night to board the MSC Opera ship the next day. We had a lovely flight to Florida, but it took most of the day to get there, as we had to transfer flights in Toronto and go through US customs.   This was my first flight south and getting off the plane in Florida was wonderful.  I could feel the heat and humidity as soon as they cracked open the door of the plane.   With that my hair went poof!  Into EXTREEM curls with a great amount of poofyness! I suddenly remembered why I hate humidity.

From the Fort Lauderdale airport we were transported to the hotel.  The hotel experience turned out to be quite a challenge.  I don't think that anyone would expect it to be difficult to get a room that was reserved months ago.  I suppose we just have bad luck, but the third time was charm...yup, it took the hotel 3 times to get us a room that WASN'T occupied!  Imagine sitting in your hotel room and watching strangers have a key and walk in!  Because that's what we did to 2 people!  Talk about a lax in hotel security.  It turned out that that the hotel was in the process of turning into a Hilton the next day and they didn't have any computer systems up and running and their manual log of booked rooms SUCKED! But we did get a lovely room in the end.

While in Florida I had the chance to hook up with some of my cousins, since they live in the area.  The night we got in Lorraine, Angela and Christopher took Greg and I out for dinner.  Thank you very much!  We were starving by that point as our last meal was a muffin at Winnipeg Airport at 9 a.m. and this was already 8:30 p.m.  We had a lovely little visit with Lorraine and her son Christopher and we had to try to catch-up really quick. it had been several years since I had seen them.

The next day we had some free time and thank-you sooo much Angela and Phillip for taking us to see the beach!  It was exactly what I had wanted to do while I was in Florida, as this was my very first time ever seeing the ocean.  Kind of a thrill for me! By noon we had to report back to the hotel to be shuttled to the ship for boarding.

By about 2 pm we had boarded the MSC Opera, and wow, it was a really neat experience being on a ship for the first time ever.  We were shown to our cabin where we quickly freshened up and ran about the ship to explore every corner possible.  I felt like a little kid running loose in a toy store!  I was waiting to hear my mom yell at me "Don't run away like that!" I think that within the first hour Greg and I had opened every door and suck our noses in to see what was there.  Besides, this was going to be home for the next 11 days so we had to see what it offered.

So basically we were at sea for the first 3 days of the trip.  During this time it was great to sit and relax out around the pool deck, feel the warm air and the sunshine, take a dip in the pool and just unwind.  There were always activities going on around the pool by the entertainment team of the ship.   One big pass time on the ship seems to be eating so of course Greg and I indulged on the breakfast and lunch buffet almost every day and enjoyed a wonderful themed dinner every night.  With this being an Italian ship, the dinner theme was focused on a different region of Italy each night.  For me this was heaven as I love Italian food, I can honestly say that wasn't one thing I put in my mouth that I didn't love!! I had the opportunity to try so many new food and great flavors.

On with our adventures, our first stop was Puerto Rico.  Here, Greg and I had the opportunity to tour one of the forts used to watch for pirates long long ago!   This was neat as it was very large and on top of a fairly high point which gave us a lovely view of the city of San Juan.  We then jumped back on the tour bus to visit the Bacardi Distillery.  This was neat, we learned some of the history around the company and we got to have a relaxing drink of rum at 10 am!   It was a better eye opener than coffee!

Our next stop the next morning was Philipsburg St. Maarten.  I've always heard so much about the shopping here.  So that's what Greg and I took in.  We took a panoramic tour of the island with shopping. We visited both the French and Dutch side of the island.  I was kind of surprised to see so many cacti on the island.  It wasn't as lush and tropical as I had pictured.  But the shopping was fun.  We did a flea market on the French side and on the Dutch side we shopped the strip.  This was a street filled with mainly jewelry stores.  I have never seen so many in my life.  This was definitely the place if you were in the market for buying expensive jewels.  We looked at lots.. but didn't buy, it was too rich for our blood. But definitely a very pretty city.

Stop number three was St. Georges, Granada.  This was a very different stop compared to the first two.  We didn't do too much of an island tour because we were doing a water event.  But we did run into town to see what it was all about.  Here is where the locals surrounded us to buy their spices, get taxi's for tours, and do about anything to get our business.  Since we didn't have time for that we purchased our cheap booze and headed for our Rum Runner tour.  We took a boat out on the water, stopped to feed some mighty hungry glutton type fish from the boat, drink all the rum we wanted and head out to the beach for some fun, sun and swimming.  We had a lovely time and this was actually my very first opportunity to swim in the ocean, which I love greatly!  We had the entertainment of a steel drum band and limbo line on board the boat.

Stop number 4, Bridgetown, Barbados!  Oh what I do to be back there again!  This was our catamaran tour!  We set sail in the morning and didn't return to late in the afternoon.  We again had all the rum one could drink... and let me tell you we know of one lady who really took in all the rum she could drink, right Diane??  This excursion was the highlight of my trip.  The adventure on this tour was snorkeling with the sea turtles and the tropical fish!  I loved it!  The water was so blue, so warm and the turtles were so neat.  I could have been out there all day.  I would do that again in a heartbeat!  Most of the day was spent in the water with fish, turtles and good company of the tour members.

Stop number 5 was Port Castries, St. Lucia.  This was my second favorite place of the Caribbean.  We took a 5-hour tour of the island.  What a lush and tropical island.  There was so much fruit and natural beauty that it took my breath away.  I'm a huge plant lover and there was nothing more spectacular than seeing all of the unique botanicals surrounding me.  I was a bit of a shutterbug on this island because I saw so many beautiful flowers, trees and other plants. This would be a beautiful vacation spot in the future.

Stop number six was Road Town, Tortola.  Sound familiar?? It's because it's home to Pirates of the Caribbean!  This again was a very unique island... and actually lots of smaller island surrounding it.  Everywhere you turned it was so scenic, all the hills and islands who could resist taking photos.  We also visited a beautiful beach, Lambert Resort.  The waters were clear and blue with rolling waves and sand soo deep one could hardly walk in it!  The palm trees were perfect creating postcard like photos.  This would definitely be a place to vacation and feel like the rich and famous!

Our last stop was Samana, Dominican Republic and the island of Cayo Levantado.  Unfortunately this was not one of the better stops of our vacation, for the simple reason we didn't have a great tour guide.  But the peninsula of Samana was beautiful.  Again very lush and this countryside has more palm trees on it than I had ever seen on all of the islands that we had visited combined.  And Cayo Levantado was a small island that all of the ships members were boated to.  It essentially is just a beach, a very large and beautiful beach with crystal blue waters and very white sands.  Almost like a paradise island to soak up the sun.

After that it was a day and a half back at sea to prepare us for reality of again.  Coming home was surprise as it was extremely cold and we both had to back to work.  As our tans fade we have the memories of the islands and possibly some new vacation sports for the future!

    Caribbean Fun!

    We're back!

11 days in the Caribbean enjoying the fun, food, water and sunshine!  Too bad we had to come back to the -30 degrees here in Winnipeg.

Greg and I had an awesome time on our cruise.  During our time at sea we made it to 7 islands, Puerto Rico, St. Marteen, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, Tortola and Dominican Republic.  Each island was so different and beautiful in their own way, my two favorites being the waters of Barbados and the countryside of St. Lucia.  I could have wished for a permanent vacation in one of those two spots.  And we were lucky to have had wonderful hot sunny weather in all the places we went to.  We've even managed to come back with a tan line.

The cruise ship was also beautiful.  We had wonderful service onboard as well.  Our cabin stewardess and our waiter were wonderful, we couldn't have asked for anyone better.  The cabin stewardess made our bed every morning and turned down the sheets every night for us.  It was almost like being tucked in bed.  And our waiter, Gede, never made a poor meal choice for us, the food was scrumptious especially if you like Italian food.  This being that our ship was an Italian cruise line called MSC.

Check out the new photos in my album of the trip.

    Plague of the Foot

    To My Dear Left Foot,

I have known you for nearly 30 years.  You have been there with me in all the fun and not so fun times.  Over the years I thought I have taken good care you. I've given you warm baths, moisturized you, and made your toenails all pretty with polish.  I have dipped you in the snow, the mud and the lake.  I know that sometime I have neglected you by letting you get cold, tired, and rammed you into some beautiful but horribly uncomfortable shoes, but I really don't think that what you are giving me is fair payback.  Yes, you let me down at the end of September when I took that tumble down the stairs, but enough is enough.

From here on in I promise to take better care of you, get you more massages and pamper you just a wee bit more than normal.  But Left Foot, I need your co-operation in the next few weeks.  See I leave on vacation next week and I really don't think that this will look soooo beautiful on the beach. Yes you do match my black bathing suit, but it's still not too sexy.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I know the doctor said today to keep this on all the time for the next few weeks and hopefully Left Foot will then heal.  I'm hoping he's right because I need you, forever and ever!  My pretty shoes want to walk the streets with you, and I would love to be able to dance with you once again.

    Your Owner,

      Chrissy

    Counting Down.....

I have to admit I have been somewhat slack on my blog.  I think that picking up little quizzes and doing a cut and paste has been a cover-up for all the thing I haven't been putting in there.  It's all because I've been too busy!  Well.. too busy and also a little bit reluctant to sit at the computer at home once I've been staring at a screen at work all day too.

Even though the holidays are over, they really weren't holidays for me.  There was a lot of running around for 2 days from one family to the next and the rest of the time was spent at work.  I'm only 10 sleeps away from REAL holydays!  I can't wait!

This will be my very first time going anywhere that DOESN'T include seeing family members!  I've been fortunate enough to see some bits and pieces of Canada and some of the northern US States, but that usually consisted of being in the car for 18+ hours with my parents.  And I could have been anywhere between the ages of 3 years to 26.  So... no family and I'm heading to the Caribbean!

This all started out about 6 months ago, July, when for no good reason Greg really wanted to go to the mall.  Ok ladies, how often does your guy say he wants to go to the mall?  When he says it you darn well take him up on that offer!!!  So off we went.  Our normal routine at the mall is we walk in the door and split our separate ways and agree to meet back at those doors at a certain time.  The watches are synchronized and off we go, kiss, kiss.

Well that day I was only in my first hour of mall wondering when I see the boy running towards me waving papers in his hand... sooo excited that he could hardly even speak to me when he did ready me.  I heard something about cruise, Caribbean and cheap. Ok.. whatever babbling boy!   And off we went home.

Within the next few week I get a call at work from Greg asking me some questions like the legal spelling of my name... blah blah blah.  With that he said "I booked our Cruise for January!" OMG!!! He really did!  He told me he was treating me to a vacation!  Awesome!!!!  And now we are here!  Only a little better than a week away and it's hard to believe that the 6 months have gone by so fast.  I suppose our 12 day vacation is going to go by just as fast!

So I've been thinking about what to pack.... I bought a couple of new things, pj's.. I'm not going to bring the ratty ones I lounge in at home.  A few summer things as it's like 30 degrees where we are going.  I've got the bathing suits for all the water and snorkeling adventures that we are going to go on.  I have pack 2 nice dresses for the formal nights, Greg wants me to get one more elegant dress for the cruise.  I'm not so sure of that yet.... because I don't want to buy some fancy dress and never wear it again.  That's just not me. But we'll see how this week turns out.

I've got my Gravol just in case I feel the need for it.  I'm sure I won't need it on the boat, the plane to Fort Lauderdale is a different story.  I don't feel so well on the plane most of the time, and this is going to be a flight from Winnipeg to Toronto and then to Fort Lauderdale.  That's going to be a LONG day.

I've got this running list of what I have already packed and what I still need to pack.  My gosh, I just realized I'm going to need a separate bag just for the shoes I will have to bring.  I need my 2 pair of dress shoes to go with my dresses for the formal nights, my runners, my Birks for walking around, my flip-flops for the pool side and then there are Greg's shoes!  What's the baggage limit again??? I better check that out.

Wow, so much to think about, and that's what I only need to take.  I have to go through the house and make sure I've done everything here too.  I need to get everyone up to speed about taking care of the baby cats, the fish and what sorts of things to look for around the house when we're gone.  And make that list of  'Take out the trash' and 'Get rid of perishables like fruit and milk'.  I'm sure there is nothing worse than coming home and opening the door and having the odor meet you of what you forgot to do before you left!

Man all this stuff to do and when am I going to do it!  There is that work thing once again interfering with my spare time!   Anyway, this is long enough.... I better get back to my tasks at hand before I forget what they are!

    Happy New Year

The evening was spent with a great group of people laughing, drinking, eating and poking fun at each other.  We played some awesome games, including some weird feet game.  And these were the winners (see below).  The catagories were for the nicest foot, the harriest toes, the longest toe, the widest toe, who had the most toe jam or lint, and the longest toe nail. Can you guess who's foot belongs to whom?

One of the other games we played is the infamous "Caps".   I have to admit this is a totally country game, this is what you do when there is no T.V.  We of course had the holy beer bottle to play with and some caps.  Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The idea was to knock your apponent's cap off by throwing another cap at it.  Ya.. lookout, this could take an eye out if you aren't a good shot... unless you were like these guys.  They couldn't hit ANYTHING!

    The Past and Future

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Well here we are, almost near the end of one year and about to start a new fresh year.  Lots has happened in 2006, both in the world around us and personally.  Each year seems to bring us new challenges is life, joys, sorrows and memories.  I can't really say that one-year is better than other but each are very unique.

I really have no idea what 2007 will bring us, I'm sure it will be filled with more technological advances, illnesses, treatments, political news, personally happiness, sorrow, many more memories and I'm fairly sure brand new batch of really crappy movies to the theaters again!  But it's not so much of what the world offers us, it's what we make of it.  We can either take every situation that we come across and make it bad or negative, or we can turn it into something more positive, learning and a little piece of history so that we know better for next time.

Anyway, I'm just rambling on here about almost nothing..... but what I'm trying to say is that take 2007 and make it yours.  Make it everything you want it to be.  Give the year memories and have it filled with what makes you most happy and content within your life.

To everyone, have a safe and happy New Years Eve and make the year yours!

    The Meaning of Christmas

The meaning of Christmas has really changed for from a kid to adult.  And it’s probably like that for most people.  It’s something that I’m not really all that impressed with as an adult.  I think that Christmas is much more enjoyable as kid.  What I would to be 7 years old again at this time of year.  Not really having any worries other than, “Am I going to remember my part in the Christmas Concert?” and “I wonder what I’m getting this year?”

So much simpler….. how I wish for those times again.

Now as an adult there are many other worries, like how many more pay days until Christmas?  Do I have to budget or am I going to rack up the credit card?  What are going kids going to want this year?  What size is everyone again?  Did I book off my holidays at work?  If I did does it mean I’m going to get those days off?  When am I going to have time to run from here, to there and back here? Who’s making what?  Was I suppose to bring something? What am I going to make?  Gotta find something to wear because I show up in the same thing I wore last year. Where is the years Christmas party?  Did I have to drive? Take a taxi?  Do I have money for that?  Who are we going to end up sitting with?  Should I get my manager a little something?  Oh darn…. Too late for Christmas cards this year, maybe next year I’ll remember.  What’s the rest of the family doing this year? Is it Christmas in the country? Or in the city this year?   Oh man… what about my neighbor, what should I get them?  I should get them something because they help me out so much with shoveling and looking after each other’s houses.  I forgot about them in my budget… oh well there goes that.  I hate driving around mall parking lots looking for a place to park.  Standing in line at the check out really sucks too, oh man I hope everything has a price tag on it.  I would hate to be the one who is holding up the line.  Crazy drivers out there at this time of year too, no one seems to know where they are going.  Get out of my WAY!  I have things to do!  Items to get!  Damn, why has the price of egg nog sky rocketed this year?  What?  Do chickens only lay and egg once???  I spend a fortune on groceries… oh well I better put the rest of the gifts on the credit card… I’ll have to pay that off later… at18% interest… yikes!  Oh well.. it’s Christmas!

I’m sure we’ve all had those thoughts before and ran into those types of situations.  But do you notice how each and everyone revolves around the almighty dollar?  Why should it be about that?  Really, what is Christmas?  Isn’t it the celebration of the birth of Jesus?  And why has it become so commercialized?  I really do think that someone thought of the “Santa” thing because they either didn’t know how to explain to their child about the birth of Jesus or their poor child thought it was such a crock that that the thought of Santa enthused them that much more and it snowballed from there.

No one really celebrates the birth of Jesus any more.  Tell me, when driving around the neighborhood looking at the Christmas displays how many people actually have a nativity scene displayed, not including the local church?  It’s probably blow up snowmen, Santa’s and reindeer, right?  And those that are religious actually celebrate the more religious aspects of the holiday than the commercialized ones?  In biblical times people were poor and gave what they could from the heart.  They made things with their hands and imagination.  There were no malls to go to and no credit cards to charge to. What ever happened to keeping it simple? Why do we all have to lead such complicated lives.  More often than not you hear of people being stressed and rushed during this time of year, what for?  Sometimes I think we all need to sit back and reflect when we were kids.  Some of us may have only gotten 1 gift that year, but it was exciting, and we played with it.  And we also made our own entertainment with friends and family.  Why not bring that back into our lives.  It might make us all a happier society.  Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best, we often forget about that.

So Happy Birthday Jesus… and lets not forget to celebrate that!

    BIG NEWS

Well here I am, Sunday night 11pm.  I should be in bed sleeping and having peaceful dreams.  Nope, instead I'm wondering the house with sooo many thing buzzing around to wondering if I'm ever going to get to sleep tonight.

So many things are happening!  And it's all at once!  Tonight we decided to put an offer in at this house we have been eyeing up.  We met with the real estate agent earlier to night, wrote up the papers and signed the cheque.  Now we wait.  We could have a response back as early as tomorrow.  It's exciting and yet it can play on the nerves for a while. I just want to know what is going to happen.  If we get it great!  If we don't... well more houses will come up.  I'll be disappointed I'm sure, but in the end I know that all things happen for a reason.

But this waiting is just going to be killing me.  I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon for Toronto for work.  I'll be gone for 3 days, and in that 3 days I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of phone calls home wondering what the news is all about. So.. on top of the house, I'm also going away.  I'm trying to make sure that I've packed everything that needs to be packed.  Did I forget anything? My pj's? I always for get those!  Do I have all of my business papers?  Did I bring a pen?  Is my laptop going to work?   How's the plane ride going to be? I sometimes get a little motion sickness on the plane so I hope that goes ok.  Do I have taxi money?  Apparently my taxi is going to cost me a fortune!  Thank goodness for credit cards and reimbursements!  Golly, I hope there is some place to eat in that town within walking distance or at least a store because I don't fancy hotel food.  Just all these things to think about.

Oh ya, and then the big one to think about.  On Saturday night sweet Greg got down on his knees in front of me and presented me with a lovely ring!  A true sign that he is committed, and so am I.  So now we will have to think about when we want to tie the knot.  I hope maybe we can do that this summer in our new back yard, if we get it.   All these things just swirling around, how is anyone supposed to sleep?

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingThat's my ring that Greg picked out all on his own.  Good job, don't you think?
